What the Hell am I doing?

People's Fair

Thak you all for coming out and saeeing the band. We all appreciate it. It was a blistering weekend with some great bands. Jason Vigil, Trainwreckers, Savage Henry, Love Planet/Rubber.45 Ha ha!

Have a safe week.

Taking care of bidness.

I admit it, I cannot stoop singing "I'm not gonna write you a Love Song..." Damn it's kinda good- I think.  I am in my studio today dealing with artwork for the album and a bunch of other stuff. I am getting the myspace up for you people who are into that. Sorry that has taken so long, kinda got my account highjacked and had to set up some new spaces...

http://www.myspace.com/michaelstjames  is the personal one
http://www.myspace.com/michaelstjamesband is the band one
http://www.myspace.com/stjamesmedia  is the business one.

There are some others as well that I will be rolling out. There is one for comedy and for my songwriting gigs.. I will forward those later.

I am also busting though a bunch of business issues with the album so that it may go worldwide. In this new Music Biz 2.0 era there is  much to do on every release and I am going to try everything. So, the video is in the planning stages and we may shoot next month. I will need your help in spreading it to as many people as oyu know and asking them to do the same.

While this album does have a rock and Blues feel to it, I am working on heavier stuff in the project studio and really digging it.

Quite a Day

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing great. Rehearsals for the upcoming gigs are going well and the artwork is being done for the album as you read this.

Is anyone else as sad as I am that the Avs are out of the playoffs! I mean we just weren't good enough, but now what am I gonna watch... The Rockies? Hmm.
Found this from the past: Red Wings Suck Video

Also, you have to check out this guy: Ronald Jenkees Unf'ing believable

Have fun Ken, I will talk to you all later.

Here We Go!

The new album "Deep in Shangri-La" is Mastered and ready to go. There are some business things to attend to and then it will be released this fall. So, look here for the pofficial release date. You will be able to buy the tracks right here, or order the album from CD Baby or me or countless other places.

I am playing with some fine musicians in a full band now. Michael Heuvelman on Guitar, David Derby on Drums and Jon Burquest on Bass. I am currently booking some shows for the Summer and making the arrangements for the CD Release party. Some of the shows will be just me and friends, some will be full band.

Thanksgiving:

I am thankful for family. My mom, my girl, my crew: that is my fCircle. My uncle Darv and Di fit in my crew by the way. That is how we roll. As I embark on this "doing a whole nuther album" thing, I am starting to see what next year may look like.
Let's try it out: By next Thanksgiving...
Instead of Hospitals, we will be rocking on beaches; instead of broken bones, we will break bread or beats with the the best of 'em. Instead of sick bellies we will drink until we are, well, ummm sick: okay that's the same, just no more stomach bugs. Next year we look to tour and do radio and and all that Jazz, who knows? Next Thanksgiving may be great, bu this last one was very special. thanks.

Buddy at MLG in Canada

So, check this out. My buddy, Troy, just went to Toronto (Hi Tim) and played Gears of War in an XBOX tournament. His team (they call it Klan-I'm not a big fan of that) is called Forsaken Heroes. They finished 17th on their first time out and got a nice write up for it. How cool would it be to play video games for a living? I am gonna try for Hockey.

Birthdays

Today's got me thinking about brithdays and what a weird day it is. Jo, (my second mama) is just celebrating one and Sara's is this week. I have always thanked my mom on my birthday, it was really all of her doing from what I understand. Sure, I cried and probably helped the process by breathing, but it was really her. I have always had an aversion to celebrating my own birthday. I really don't keep track about how old I am and the only reason I usually remember is in reference to someone else. to wit: "No, you're 6 months younger than me, so you are x." Although as time goes by I realize the importance of recognizing each day as special. The truth is this: no one cherishes every moment, no one is thankful to be alive everyday. except maybe that dude with the sneakers.  You forget sometimes. So, on these days, such as birthdays, it is a time to mark, reflect and be truly in the moment of time. Realizing that this time is passing and more importantly, another time is coming can really change your day.

X-mas Eve Torture

Remember when  you were a kid and you would wait up all night on X-mas eve just contemplating what your gifts might be? Well it has been  that here at our house for about two weeks. The songs I recorded in Lexington are not on the server and it is KILIING ME!
Rockies are out, but they gave it a shot. Now the talk will be that they were too good and swept. (8days off will make that fastball look real fast)

This is a pretty cool time!

Kentucky ruled. Found my producing soulmate in Duane Lundy. I have great friends and family. Got to see a band from Prague. And then.... The Grammy's. It's official. I am at least up for a nomination and very thankful for it. Giggletins: The Jiggleworm is up for two or them: One for Packaging and Design and one for Best Children's Album. Greg Carr did the packaging and I did the album: Both from Denver!
If you are, or know of any Academy members, they must vote by November 7th

Check it out here Giggletins

We are in Field 18 (Children's)
Category 77 (Children's Musical Album)
Giggletins: The Jiggleworm is number 029.

Back from Kentucky

What a wild few weeks. I went down to Kentucky to record with Duane Lundy. Little did I know what would happen. It has changed my career, my focus and brought inspiration to my music. Along with Robbie and Justin, we all are creating a new thing. A new vibe. Singer/Songwriter music soulfully sung with an indie rock 70's vibe. It really is the best music I have ever done. I am going to release something next year, so Handmade is now in limbo but I will make those tracks available soon.

three songs are coming: "I'm In" "Stay home and Play" and "Sha La La".

Vegas Baby

Well, we just missed Britney, darn! What a great time here in the desert, it is only really 108 most days just lovely. I am winning a little which is nice. Great clubs and food here where we are staying. We loved spending time with Darv and Diana, t3wo of the best people in the world. We miss you already. Today is an In-n-Out day, if you do not know what that is, get on a plane and go to California, ask someone and then go to the first one you find. Get a Double Double and you're set.

Well it's off to take down those bucks baby. CHING CHING CHING.
